Use Starrett Machinist Levels over common construction levels for better accuracy! Starrett improved machinist level series is a truly American product that is available in varying lengths of 4/6/8/12 inches. The company offers five different models under this series each having a long graduated spirit level that has a sensitivity of 0.42 millimeters/meter or 0.005 inches/foot or 80-90 seconds of arc. Some models come with an additional cross test vial at right angles that enable one to simultaneously determine the surface flatness in two directions. The main glass vial is adjustable to a positive setting for accurate results. It is housed in a satin-finished, knurled brass tube to resist breakage. The vials are seated on a precision-machined cast iron base for durability. Further, a V-shaped or involute notch along the base provides reliable seating around items such as pipes, conduits, and shafts. The Starrett improved machinist level contains vials that are filled with high-grade mineral oil to resist thermal expansion and contraction and excessive bubbles. The bubble inside the vials always settles at the highest point and the well-marked indicators help to quickly determine the flatness of any surface. The L.S. Starrett Company is in the manufacturing of precision measuring tools, metrology, and testing equipment, and saw blade products since 1880. Buy precision, buy American, buy Starrett Machinist Levels!

Benefits

  • Starrett improved machinist level use high-grade mineral oil to mitigate multiple bubbles during handling.
  • The level remains safe to use even in the event that it is damaged.
  • The bubble inside the vial always settles at the highest point and the graduations on vials determine surface flatness easily.
  • In addition to the durability of the cast iron base, the precision-machined ground contributes significantly to the level's accuracy.
  • Large gripping surface at ends for adjusting or replacing the main vial.

Applications

Cross test vials make it possible to level simultaneously in both directions. Prevent inaccuracies in main vial reading thru canting the level sidewise on round work. Involute longitudinal groove between the bearing flats provides accurate seating on the round work, such as shafting.
