After using digital tool setting gauges that require electrical continuity to work, and that are easy to damage if, for some reason, the LED fails to light up, I tried this analog system. It works perfectly and the analog output is far better than the simple on/off LED of standard setters. And, of course, it works with both electrically conductive and non-conductive materials (such as plastics). Perfectly calibrated when it arrived, but easy to adjust if necessary.
