Use Micro 100 Solid Carbide Boring Bar to Make that Accurate Sized Hole. Ask any machinist and they will recommend you Micro 100's BB series for all your boring requirements. These bars are made up of solid carbide which is industrial-grade steel. Coating options are available which provides for increased lubrication, shock-resistance while machining. Boring is a cutting process to enlarge an existing hole. A boring bar is typically used in the cutting of an inner surface and gives it a high surface roughness. Over 100 variants of Micro 100 boring bars offer bore ranging from 0.050 inch to 0.490 inch. The product is limited to a maximum bore depth ranging from 0.150 inch to 4.50 inches. It is an uncoated solid boring bar with a shank diameter available in 1/8 inch, 3/16 inch, 1/4 inch, 5/16 inch, 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch. Suitable workpiece material ranging from Steel, Stainless Steel, High-Temp Exotic alloy, Non-Ferrous, Cast Iron, to Plastics. This line of the right-hand boring tool has a rake angle of 2 degrees and the polished split face offers improved edge retention and chip evacuation. Boring offers distinct advantages over other hole-making strategies such as reaming. For instance, in precision applications where Reaming tools can be worrying as they follow the position of the previous drilling operation, Boring heads will accurately position the hole on the centerline of the machine spindle and not follow the drilled hole. Micro 100 is a market leader and internationally acclaimed tool manufacturer for over 50 years. The company is completely based in the USA and manufactures precision tools for almost all industrial applications. Boring tools are CNC ground in the USA for close tolerances. TH series solid carbide bore head holders are designed and engineered for various types of tooling: prototype tooling, bridge tooling, and production tooling. Carbide is nothing but industrial steel, preferred for durability in harsh conditions. Always remember to keep the boring bars to a minimum length while machining. This is to be achieved by using a compatible boring head & holder. Micro 100 TH-series holders will match the fit. Further, the choice of Machine (spindle) and fixture design will largely impact the boring tool life. Using large spindles will increase stability and thus offer higher tool life.
Don't be fooled by "copy-cats"...use the original Micro 100 Super Carbide

Benefits

  • Carbide boring bar will not chip or break under normal machining conditions.
  • Polished split face helps in easy chip evacuation.
  • Reduce machine set, downtime, & tooling costs with Micro 100 TH series of boring head holders.
  • Preferred over reaming tools where positional accuracy is key.
  • Jobs with adjustable ranges can benefit a lot from boring operations.

Applications

  • Tool designed for facing and boring applications in bores 0.050" and larger.
