Straight Flute/Spade Drills
Straight Flute Solid Carbide Drills (also known as Spade Drills) are for machine drilling shallow holes in difficult materials such as steels harder than Rc 50, stainless and high temperature alloys. Spade drills are well suited for machining sheet metal and yielding holes with reamer-like finishes. Holes deeper than two diameters deep require models with a 135 degree or 140 degree point. Cutting action produces chips with less heat, for less softening and annealing of the workpiece and longer tool life.
