Eliminates Chip Removal Issues Made Easy with Balax Thread Forming Bottoming Taps. Thredfloer series heavy-duty bottoming taps from Balax are designed such that the chips are rearranged the grain of the material. All variants are available in tool materials made up of diecast aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. It makes it ideal for multi-purpose, heavy-duty applications. The Thredfloer series bottoming taps are available in bright-finish or TiCN-coated or TiN-coated models. The coated models offer better heat resistance to deliver high-performance deep hole tapping. The heat-resistant coating improves tool life and can be used without coolant. The one/two/four flute design ensures superior performance on any workpiece material. The models are available in over 40 different metric sizes 12 mm x 1.75 mm & below inch sizes of 3/8"-16 & below. The square shank of the tap is designed for superior grip during machine-held applications. Bottom chamfer taps are normally used to get close to the bottom of a blind hole but only after Taper and Plug chamfer taps have removed most of the material. Balax Thredfloer series bottoming taps deliver faster chip evacuation, efficient thread quality, and higher tapping speeds. It makes it an ideal choice for cutting blind holes. Spiral point taps are known for their versatile applications. Outstanding results can be achieved on different workpiece materials including Non-Ferrous, Plastics. Balax pioneered a design for cold forming that reduces tapping torque by creating lead threads on the pitch. All products are proudly designed and manufactured in the United States.

Benefits

  • Chip-less Tapping: Eliminates chip removal issues in blind holes.
  • Stronger Threads: Effective on materials such as steel & stainless steel.
  • Better Thread Gaging: Because no metal is cut away, the possibility of producing oversized threads is greatly reduced.
  • Longer Tap Life: Forming taps last 3 to 20 times longer than cutting taps.
  • Efficient Production: Less tap breakage, faster tapping speeds offers to reduce cycle time and machine downtime.
  • Ideal for Non-lead Screw Tappers: Thredfloer Series Taps are especially well suited for CNC machines or other machines without lead screws.

Applications

  • Diecast: Designed for diecast aluminum.
  • Steel: TiCN coating supports steel tapping applications.
  • Stainless Steel: Super TiN coating supports stainless steel tapping applications.
  • Form tapping is typically used in steels, stainless steels, light metal alloys, and non-ferrous materials.
