These tap wrenches are long precision hand threading tools with tap capacity sizes varying from 1/16-1/4 inches to 5/16-3/4 inch. The movable V-jaw can firmly hold square or round shanks or tap bits. More than just a legacy, tap wrenches are great for non-standard tapping works. The spring-action plunger operated by the knurled sleeve provides excellent feedback to the operator, especially where taps require a specific amount of material at a specific dimension in order to create an effective thread. The 91 series straight tap wrenches from Starrett have a spring inside their knurled sleeves so that when you remove the pressure, the plunger withdraws, allowing for a smooth operation. This series includes four models: 91A, 91B, 91C, and 91D with a shank capacity range of 3/32-5/32 to 13/64-7/16 inches. All of them are designed to work with tool shanks and tap bits of both square and round shapes. However, when you use one of these tap wrenches for holding a round shank, you have to be a little careful not to exert too much pressure on the wrench as it may damage the V-jaw provided. The L.S.
